The Sunshine Aquarium in Ikebukuro is Japan’s first urban high-rise aquarium.
The Sunshine Aquarium calls itself an ‘Oasis in the Sky’
Its open-air zone, ‘Marine Garden’ was reopened after renovations on July 12, 2017.
A 12m wide tank set up 40m above ground can be viewed from below
This ‘Penguin in the sky’ display sees penguins that live in southern Africa swim around among high-rises
just as if they were flying through the sky.
Usually flightless, these penguins really upset the odds!
It’s a truly out-there, all-new urban experience!
